Mark has been married to Marlene since 1984. They have two children, Daniel and Rachel. Daniel lives in Lenoir City, Tennessee and works with PTP 365. He is married to Martha and they have five children, Jenaleigh, Analeigh, Hayden, Lorelei, and Naomi. Rachel works for Freed-Hardeman University. She is married to Brandon Woolard. They live in Enville, Tennessee. They are the parents of three sons, Enoch, Elijah, and Ezra.

Mark grew up in Winfield, Alabama and is a 1982 graduate of Winfield City High School. In 1989, he graduated from Faulkner University with a B.A. In Bible. He is also a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University having received a Masters of Ministry degree in 1998.

Mark has served as the pulpit minister for the Midway church of Christ in Jasper, Alabama since January 2009. Prior to that, he preached for the Atwood church of Christ in Atwood, Tennessee for 19 years. Before moving to Atwood, he served as the local preacher for the Appleton church of Christ near Brewton, Alabama and the Hillcrest church of Christ near Winfield, Alabama.

Mark serves as one of the co-directors of the Polishing the Pulpit workshop.
